Background
Users manage every time more and more access data to services
such as web pages (job, portals, shops, universities), e-mails
(professional and several personal), newsletters, etc.
These access data usually consist of a username or login and a
password, apart from a URL o web address where to enter these
data.
In our memory we also keep other codes like credit card. mobile
PIN, antiblocking code home alarm... these data sometimes we don´t
even memorize, we write them down in a piece of paper in the wallet...
We can affirm a person keeps in his mind 10 passwords or codes
on average.
Wouldn´t it be easier to remember only one password to access
the rest?
What´s
Shibbo?
Shibbo is a "password manager" application, that is,
a web application which can keep and manage any data related with
restricted access by one password or code at least.
These usernames (login) and passwords could be related with:
· Web sites (portls, mail, services...)
· Credit cards and PINs
· Passwords at PCs
· Local applications (i.e.: ERP)
· Alarm codes
· Bank accounts
· PIN, PUK and IMEI of mobile phones
· Answering machines
· Payment systems(Paypal...)
· Others (Movies, RadioCD, client cards...)
How
does it work?
Access to the application is made through the official web page
of Shibbo and a username and password is needed to access.
Username and password are created in the self-register process,
which are created by the user in the register and activation of
the service, which only last a few seconds and is anonymous, since
no personal data is required (e-mail is optional and only will
be used in password recovery process).
This anonymous register helps the security of the service and
on the other side, when data of an account or service are kept,
all the fields are optional, so you can store for example the
password of your e-mail but indicating in the name of the account,
not the mail address but a name of the kind: "Mail account"
or "Hotmail".
In case of introducing the password, the application has a built-in
password security checker which will tell you if that password
can be considered weak and why.
Regarding the electronic gadgets (mobiles, PDAs, laptops, etc.),
the reasoning to trust your Passwords to Shibbo is very
strong: if the attacker or hacker does not know who you are and
does not have physically the gadget, what can your passwords be
used for?
The aim of this application is not linking web services whose
data keep or to fill access forms to those services. This application
is independent, so the security of this services will be the same
they already had.
Why
trust Shibbo?
- Because it is not a Beta (or experimental) version. It is a
trustworthy quality service and product.
- Because behind Shibbo, there is a company,
Base, with solid experience at ICT´s.
- Because you do not have to give personal data
(e-mail at register is optional and only for password recovery*
process).
- Because data are encrypted
- Because you do not even need to keep your passwords,
you can keep the clues to remember them or part of them...
* In fact, it is not a password recovery, since we cannot know
your password. In case of losing or forgetting your password.
what we will do after checking your username and mail matches
the ones you gave in your register, is generating a new password
(which you can change later).
Why
is it free?
Use of web application is free because we want it to be known
and used.
We know it is a good application but we also know not all users
trust in keeping their passwords on the Internet, although we
have put all the necessary measures of security against non-authorized
acceses or hacker attacks.
For that reason, we are interested in selling the application
in its PortableApp version (to install on your
own pendrive*) and USB-Shibbo (application+pendrive)
version, that is, installed in a memory stick, so you will be
able to take safely everywhere your data and get all the advantages
Shibbo offers you.
* Pendrive, mp3 player, iPod, mobile phone with SD card... any
device which can be used as "external/mass storage device".
How

What is a PortableApp?
portable - carried or moved with ease
app - a computer program like a web browser or word processor
A portable app is a computer program that you can carry
around with you on a portable device and use on any computer.
When your USB flash drive, portable hard drive, iPod, SD card
or other portable device is plugged in, you have access to your
software and personal data just as you would on your own
PC. And when you unplug the device, none of your
personal data is left behind.
A truly portable application or software must have the following
characteristics:
- Not require any installation on any computer
before using it, being only necessary to decompress/unzip the
package on the portable device (pendrive, mp3-player, ipod...).
- Settings are stored and carried in the portable device
(if the registry is used to store settings is not portable and
it should be set up on every PC it is used on).
- Leaves no footprint or trace on any PC after
being used.
